Homemade Oat Facials

I have two recipes to use depending on your skin type, I’ve always been interested in natural homemade alternatives and these are both great.

image

1) Best for oily skin
2 tbsp crushed oats
1 tsp bicarbonate soda
Enough water to make a paste.
Mix together, apply to the face then wash off after 6 mins using warm water and pat dry.

2) Best for dry skin
2 tbsp crushed oats
1 tsp organic honey
Enough milk to make it runny.
Mix together, apply to the face, leave on for 10 mins then wash off using warm water and pat dry.

I would recommend to use at least twice a week for best results. After using these facials your face will feel free and refreshed because your skin has absorbed in all that goodness. Once you’ve washed off your face use a light oil such as almond oil to keep your skin soft and moisturized.

*You know it’s good for your skin if you can eat it too 🙂

There’s something about life that means you have to make the most of it, people and places are just the added bonus that you get to experience on the way. Make great memories that will last a lifetime but always remember that everything around you will one day disappear. What was your constant one day will be gone the next. As long as you put in your best efforts nobody can ask for anything more. New things will always be round the corner you just have to seek them out!

Broccoli Burgers

I was so proud of creating this dish, firstly because it was vegetarian (with eggs included) it looked really colourful and actually tasted delicious. I’ve only recently started eating chickpeas but I’m slowly getting used to the taste and mixed with the broccoli YUM! I created this dish as part of my final culinary skills lesson for a specific persons needs.

This was only the practice lesson so I’ll probably do another post with the small changes. This meal was created for someone with high blood pressure, so I decided to go for a vegetarian meal with minimal fat and salt.

*I will do another post with the final recipe 🙂

Moroccan Clay Pore Refining Mud Mask

I brought this clay mud mask a while back and finally decided to use it, literally the minute I tore the top a sweet aroma came from the clay it reminded me of a sweet chewing gum I used to have as a  kid.

It was really nice and easy to apply to my skin, I used my fingers rubbing it in slightly, once it dried up on my face it went a bit flaky and didn’t leave my face uncomfortably tight as other face masks do. I used some warm water to wash it off and pat dried my face before rubbing in some oil. Afterwards my skin felt so smooth, refreshed and soft 🙂 the cost is £1.99 from Holland and Barretts it’s a little pricey but for very good quality and 1 sachet has at least three uses. Using any clay mask is a great way to just relax for a few moments and enjoy your own company.

Concert: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

I’m such a big fan of music but surprisingly this was my first ever proper music concert!!! I went to see Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on their tour and it was so AMAZING even the warm up acts were great too. Me and my friend cued up outside a couple of hours before the doors opened but it suddenly got really cold and started snowing (typical British weather) :O even though we got soaked in the snow it was definitely worth it. Once we got inside we headed straight for the front and got to be right by the bars. We had such a great time and now I can’t wait until the next music event!!

Chocolate Cupcakes With Coconut Flavoured Frosting

This recipe was quite random, I had the intention of baking cookies but made cupcakes instead. The quantity of the ingredients means the cupcakes are quite dense and filling. Topped with a light coconut frosting using organic coconut powder. I had a few sample sachets from the company Purely Super Foods and decided to use the coconut one for my bakes. Check out their website here http://www.purelysuperfoods.com they sell many great products!!

Benefits of Stretching

I recently realised that even though I sometimes practice basic yoga positions my body is not as flexible as I would like it to be, over the years I have become aware that there is a slight strain on my muscles if I try to do certain movements for example sitting down with my upper body folded over my legs. So I decided to set myself a little challenge to do the splits 🙂 I will be following the stretches from the Blogilates splits diagram which I’ve found to be very useful.

The benefits of stretching:

Increases flexibility

Improves your posture

Great for stress relief and relaxation

Blood is easier circulated to many parts of the body

Reduces the tension in muscles

Being flexible is a super important part of a healthy lifestyle and it is very easily achieved through consistent practice, I won’t set myself a strict deadline but I hope to be able to comfortably do the splits soon and then gradually move on to other challenging stretches.

Why You Should Massage Your Head

A massage in general will have many holistic health benefits but specifically massaging the head is good for many reasons the main two being:

Increases blood flow which can stimulate the hair follicles making the hair grow faster

Helps with fatigue, stress and headaches

The head massage should be slow and deep, physically moving the scalp with your fingers in order to stimulate blood flow. There are also certain essential oils which bode well with head massages and have other benefits.

Tea tree, soothes a dry itchy scalp

Lemon, helps control dandruff

Peppermint, acts as a natural cleanser

*always check the instructions for how to use essential oils as many of them are usually mixed with carrier oils before using.
